Tujuan dan manfaat dari asuransi jiwa adalah untuk memberikan perlindungan terhadap timbulnya kerugian finansial atau hilangnya pendapatan seseorang akibat adanya kematian anggota keluarga tertanggung yang umumnya menjadi sumber nafkah bagi keluarga. Dengan adanya pembayaran dari pihak asuransi, keluarga tetap dapat melangsungkan hidup pasca kematian anggota keluarga.
Melansir dari axa-mandiri.co.id, terdapat tiga macam asuransi jiwa :
- Term Life: Asuransi jiwa ini akan memberi perlindungan dalam jangka waktu 1,5 atau 10 tahun. Walaupun nilai pertanggungan produk asuransi jiwa ini jauh lebih besar, uang premi hangus di akhir periode.
- Whole Life: Perlindungan asuransi jiwa ini seumur hidup, tetapi preminya lebih mahal. Jika pemegang polis tidak meninggal selama masa kontrak, maka uang pertanggungan dapat di klaim namun jumlahnya tidak sebesar produk asuransi jiwa term life.
- Unit Link: Unit Link merupakan asuransi yang tergolong jenis asuransi non tradisional. Pengertian dari unit link adalah produk asuransi yang mengkombinasikan asuransi dan produk investasi. Jadi, ibaratnya dana nasabah dipecah dan dimasukkan ke dalam dua keranjang, sebagian masuk keranjang premi asuransi untuk perlindungan dan sebagian lagi disetorkan oleh perusahaan asuransi ke manajer investasi agar dikelola sebagai investasi. Keputusan penempatan investasi sepenuhnya ada di tangan nasabah.
Asuransi Kesehatan
Banyak orang salah sangka bahwa asuransi kesehatan adalah asuransi jiwa. Padahal keduanya memiliki kebermanfaatan yang berbeda. Asuransi kesehatan merupakan produk asuransi yang menangani masalah kesehatan kepada pemegang polis. Produk penanggungan ini akan memberikan manfaat kepada pemegang polis yang membutuhkan perawatan kesehatan akibat suatu penyakit serta menanggung biaya proses perawatan.
