1. Berikan Setiap Sen Pekerjaan
Langkah pertama dalam membangun anggaran yang lebih baik adalah memutuskan apa yang kita ingin uang lakukan untuk kita.

Jika pada aturan pertama, Jesse mengajarkan untuk menganggarkan biaya untuk hal-hal penting dan menyenangkan dalam hidup.
Aturan kedua menganjurkan kita untuk menyisihkan uang untuk “pengeluaran sebenarnya”.
“Pengeluaran sebenarnya” seringkali tidak muncul sebagai kewajiban rutin bulanan, tetapi muncul dalam 2 jenis yaitu:

Tetapi, banyak juga yang tidak memperhitungkan biaya lainnya yang sebenarnya essensial dalam hidup.
3. Belajar Menerima “Pukulan”
Setelah mengikuti aturan pertama dan kedua, aturan ketiga mengajarkan untuk membuat penyesuaian berdasarkan perubahan yang mungkin terjadi dalam hidup.
Atau dapat juga di sebut sebagai anggaran fleksibel, yaitu anggaran yang berubah mengikuti perubahan prioritas hidup kita.
Adanya anggaran fleksibel, menunjukkan bahwa transisi hidup Kamu juga tercermin dalam rancangan anggaran keuangan kalian.
“Pukulan” yang di maksudkan Jesse dalam aturan ketiga bertujuan untuk memberitahu kita agar jujur pada diri sendiri tentang apa yang benar-benar penting.
Jesse mencontohkan pukulan dengan kondisi saat tiba-tiba pintu garasi rumah Kamu rusak.
Mungkin, sehari sebelumnya, itu bukan prioritas dalam rencana penganggaran, tetapi saat rusak bisa jadi berubah menjadi pengeluaran penting untuk saat ini.
