Huntington hidup dari 1911 hingga 2008, adalah pewaris kejayaan Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company.
Huntington mewarisi kekayaan sekitar US$90 juta atau Rp1,3 triliun saat usianya 12 tahun. Sebagai penyesuaian inflasi, ia mendapatkan setidaknya US$1,3 milyar atau Rp19 triliun ketika kanak-kanak. Nominal itu di dapatnya setelah dipotong pajak.
Namun Huntington di nyatakan bangkrut di New York tahun 1992, setidaknya 70 tahun setelah ia mendapatkan salah satu warisan terbesar di dunia.
Huntington mengkombinasikan keterampilan bisnis yang buruk dengan gaya hidup yang luar biasa mewah. Setelah bangkrut, Huntington hidup sebagai penyendiri dengan putrinya di Bahama, hingga ia wafat.
Kenapa ya kira kira?
Dalam sebuah penelitian, rata-rata orang di usia 20 hingga 40-an tahun yang di beri warisan atau menang lotere bernominal besar akan kehilangan setengah uang mereka karena boros atau investasi yang tak tepat sasaran. Belum lagi pajak hadiah seperti ini juga cukup besar lho bisa sampai 15%.
Artinya .. Penting banget untuk mempunyai pengetahuan tentang mengelola uang dan memilih instrument investasi yang tepat.
